FAQs

Q: How much are repairs?

A: Repairs start at $10 per item and include all hardware and materials needed. You can text or email photos for estimates ahead of time. You can also let me know if you have a hard limit on repair costs before you want to consider the item not worth repairing or if you only want certain repairs made. I can fix most any blanket issue. I will let you know if I do not think it is worth repairing. Most of the time it is cheaper to repair the blanket than to buy a new one.

Q: What is the turn-around time?

A: Between 1 and 2 weeks, depending on time of the year.

Q: How/when do I pay?

A. Payment is due upon completion of service before or at the time the blankets are returned. I will text or email you an invoice with total and service details.  Payment options.

Q: How should blankets be packaged up for pick up?

This applies for barn/event pick ups and drop offs at Tri-State Vet & Pet.

A: Please have blankets and other items in trash bags with your name and phone number securely attached to EACH BAG (multiple items may be in one bag). Using a permanent marker and duct tape is a good way to identify your bags.

If you drop off at Tri-State Equine & Pet, please call or text me to let me know they are there.

Q: How do you wash the blankets?

A: Winter blankets are pre-washed using a power-washer to remove excess dirt and stains, then machine washed with an extra rinse, and line-dried.  Coolers, show sheets, Back-on-Track blankets, etc. are machine washed and line-dried. Blankets typically look almost new after cleaning.

Q. Waterproofing: Does my blanket need waterproofing? What do you use for waterproofing? Do you guarantee the level of water resistance the waterproofing service provides?

A: Turnout blankets lose their water-resistance over time with exposure to the sun, water, dirt, and vary by the brand of blanket. It is ideal to re-fresh your blanket's water resistance every year, but I am happy to let you know the status of the water-resistance and let you decided then. I use NikWax Rug Proof wash-in for refreshing water-resistance. I do not guarantee the level of water-resistance a particular blanket will be restored to as it depends so much on the factors listed above.

Q: What is your service area for pick-ups? Do you charge a fee for barn/event pickup? Minimums?

A: Barn/event pick-ups are available within a 2-hours of Evansville, Indiana but I will consider pick-ups further out depending on volume. A RSVP form will be created for the pick up event Typically no fee is charged with a minimum number of blankets. Contact me for more info.  Map of Service Area

Q: What kind of leather repair do you offer?

A: I can repair bridles, halters, western saddle fender buckles , and other tack as well as chaps. I do not replace English saddle billets or girths.
